The three tiers, in order

TEMPUR-Adapt is the entry point, offered in medium and in a medium hybrid. It gives you the material and the motion isolation the brand is known for in the shallowest build, and for a lot of shoppers it is the right stopping point. TEMPUR-ProAdapt sits in the middle and is the most flexible tier, with soft, medium, medium-firm and firm options, so it is usually where couples with different preferences find common ground. TEMPUR-LuxeAdapt is the deepest build, available soft, firm and as a medium hybrid, and it contours the most noticeably at the shoulder and hip. Going up a tier buys more conforming and more partner isolation; it does not buy a firmer or softer bed, because feel is chosen separately.

Choosing the feel, not just the tier

Feel and tier are two independent decisions, and mixing them up is the usual source of regret. Pick the feel from how you sleep: side sleepers generally want the softer options so the shoulder can sink, which is the reasoning behind our mattresses for side sleepers, while back and stomach sleepers are better served at the firmer end. Then pick the tier from how much contouring you want and what you are spending. Anyone who wakes up sore should pay particular attention to this family, because deep pressure relief is what it was designed for, and it overlaps heavily with the mattresses we group for back pain.

Foam or hybrid within the same tier

Most tiers are offered both ways. The all-foam versions deliver the slowest, most enveloping response and the least bounce, and they belong with the rest of our all-foam and memory foam mattresses. The hybrid versions put the same TEMPUR layers over a pocketed coil unit, which makes them easier to move on, firmer at the perimeter, and slightly more breathable. Heavier sleepers and anyone who shifts position often through the night tend to prefer the hybrids; people who want to feel held by the mattress tend to prefer the foam.

Comparing the ladder in one visit

This is a range where fifteen minutes beats a week of reading, because the steps between tiers are physical and immediate once you have lain on two of them. All three stores, Katy, Richmond and Rosenberg, carry the line, and each one offers local delivery, removal of your old mattress and financing. The Richmond showroom carries the widest floor selection if you want to try every tier in a single trip, and it is worth testing these on an adjustable base, since articulation changes the feel more than it does on a spring mattress.
